Serina Barkley is an attorney at Dwyer & Collora, LLP representing clients in all of the firm’s practice areas including complex civil litigation, employment, health care and white-collar criminal defense.
Ms. Barkley joined Dwyer & Collora, LLP in 2007 after serving three years as an assistant district attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office, Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor. Her experiences prepared her to be an advocate for criminal defendants and civil litigants. There she conducted ten felony trials, six as lead attorney, sixteen hearings before New York State Supreme Courts, and presented over one hundred felony cases to the Grand Jury of the New York Supreme Courts.
Areas of Representation:
Ms. Barkley is a litigation associate specializing in complex civil and criminal defense cases in federal and state courts. She represents individuals and entities in all phases of civil and criminal litigation including grand jury and agency investigations, civil and criminal discovery, trial preparations, trials, post-conviction litigation, sentencing, and appeals. Ms. Barkley works on cases involving a wide array of federal and state subject areas including health care, employment discrimination, federal and state false claims, bank and securities fraud, kickbacks, tax evasion, campaign finance violations, public corruption, RICO, antitrust, perjury and obstruction of justice.
Recent Cases:
- Represented pharmaceutical company employees in connection with investigation of alleged off-label marketing being conducted by the Massachusetts United States Attorney’s Office.
- Represented health care provider in suit brought against him by health insurance providers in Mass. Superior Court for alleged fraudulent receipt of reimbursement.
- Representation of technology company in suit brought against it by former clients regarding patent infringement, breach of contract and breach of warranty in the D. Mass.
- Representation of charitable foundation in suit for negligent misrepresentation and breach of contract.
- Obtained dismissal of MCAD complaint against local employer wrongfully charged with discrimination.
- Representation of scientist in medical research industry regarding unlawful termination.
- Represented defendant in assault and battery case.
- Represented defendant in indecent assault and battery case.
- Representation of clients pro bono in criminal matters in state court on referral from Massachusetts Women’s Bar Foundation Framingham Project for Incarcerated Women.
