Bill Lovett is partner at Dwyer & Collora, LLP representing clients in all of the firm's practice areas including complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense. He has extensive experience representing clients in financial matters including civil and criminal tax matters, accounting fraud, securities infractions, and civil asset forfeiture. Mr. Lovett was recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as an Up & Coming Lawyer in 2008.

Mr. Lovett joined Dwyer & Collora, LLP in 2006 after serving over six years as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice. While at the Department of Justice, he served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia and was recognized with the Outstanding Attorney Award in 2002, 2003 and 2005.

Mr. Lovett serves as co-chair of Lawyers Have Heart, an annual 5K road race and summer celebration sponsored by the legal community to benefit the American Heart Association.

Areas of Representation:

Mr. Lovett's work focuses on complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense with an emphasis on sophisticated financial matters. Most recently, he has represented individual and corporate clients under investigation by federal grand juries and clients who were subjects of SEC enforcement actions. He has also represented various clients in civil suits brought against public accounting firms seeking to recover damages suffered as a result of negligently performed audits.

  • United States v. Pesaturo, (District of Massachusetts) (prosecution of motor vehicle excise tax evasion case).
  • United States v. McAnlis (Southern District of Florida) (prosecution of abusive trust scheme used to evade payment of taxes).
  • United States v. Young (Eastern District of Tennessee) (prosecution of tax preparer).
  • United States v. Samantha Johnson, et al. (prosecution of thirteen defendants involved in wide ranging mortgage fraud scheme).
  • Representation of  commercial lenders (relating to professional liability claims brought against accountants who audited borrower’s financial statements).
